Change. Do you really want it? Are you ready for the Challenge?
I’m not singling out any one person in this post. I’ve had tons of people tell me they want help. They want to lose weight. They want to feel better. In the same breath they also tell me that they do not want to work out, they do not want to get up early, they don’t have time, or they don’t have money. I have to ask my spouse, I’m going on vacation, I’ve been sick, I’ve got a lot going on. The list goes on and on.
My question is why? Why do you want what you want? I hear heart felt stories. Stories of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, zero energy, not able to play with kids, feeling self- conscious, feeling insecure, frustration, not able to fit in clothes, saying no to life because of depression and more. I offer a solution. I offer several solutions. Some don’t even include working out at all. Some people need personal development first before anything. They need a boost to their mind and spirit. They need to believe they can do it.
I make a recommendation. I tell them exactly what it will take and how I will help them.
What happens next? Nothing. Crickets. No response. Eye and deny. No answer to phone calls, text, emails, or facebook messages. Not that I’m relentless about it either. I totally give people space to decide and get in the right space to move forward. I’ve backed off for weeks and sometimes months. I watch these people check in at bars, In & Out Burger, buying shoes, taking vacations etc. These are the same people that tell me they don’t have time or money for themselves. They don’t have time or money to spend on getting healthy. They have time & money for all of these other things. They have iPhones, iPads, Xboxes, go see every movie the weekend it comes out, meet their friends for lunch, or whatever.
Working out takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Period. There are very few workouts that are longer than 1 hour in any program I own by Beachbody. There are a couple but they are one day and that is it. It is a proven fact that people that rise early and exercise are 65% more productive throughout their days. It is proven that people that exercise regularly are in better moods and rarely take anti- depressants.
It baffles me when people pour their heart out telling me how badly they want to lose weight and get healthy and then don’t take action. I get it. They are afraid to fail. They think if I don’t start then I can’t fail. I’ll quit before I get fired. Nope. Sorry. Doesn’t work. By not trying, you’ve guaranteed failure. Working out 10 minutes a day and drinking a shake a few days a week is a great way to begin. No one is asking you for perfection. That is in your mind. All we want is for you to get started. Start making better decisions. Start on the path to getting healthy.
Hear this now. There isn’t a magic pill. You must have proper nutrition + fitness +accountability to lose weight and keep it off successfully. You are where you are because of your choices. Are you going to make a better choice for yourself now? Are you worth it?
I’m worth it. I’m worth 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. I’m a busy person. I have a job and a 6 year old. I’m married and have a house to keep and a large family too. We get together for many things and often. I make time for myself. My family is worth it. Mark and I get up early and workout together before Reese wakes up. We have that time together. We support each other through it. Do we want to get up at 5:30am to workout? No way! Here is a news flash. I don’t like working out either. I didn’t receive a magic pill to love it. I love the way I feel because of it. My body deserves to be healthy. My mind deserves to be healthy. The people around me deserve the best version of me. This is the only life I have on this earth. I wasted far too many years being depressed, insecure, and unhappy in my skin.
Decide now that you are and just go for it. Don’t be afraid. Don’t wait until after vacation. Don’t wait until. You are just putting off your own happiness. You are putting off finding that happy person.
You are worth it. You deserve it.
