As a coach I hear excuses and sometimes those excuses are coming from my own head. We will justify things so we can stay comfortable.
Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.
It is the end said the caterpillar. It is just the beginning said the butterfly.
There was a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
There are lessons all around us ALL THE TIME. Lessons to be patient from the slow driver in front of us. Lessons to be grateful when we see someone with a flat tire on the side of the road.
One thing I want to hear from me today. Let this sink in. Never give up. Never give up on yourself or your journey. I follow workout program calendars. I have since 2010. I may have a lot more day 1s checked off on the calendar than day 90s but the important part is that I never give up. I rarely miss a Monday. I rarely miss more than 3 days of working out in a row. Unless I’m seriously injured and can’t move I will find a way to walk, run, work my core, or do something.
Justifying why you are sitting there is work.
Justifying why you can’t bring yourself to the grocery store is work.
Justifying why you don’t eat healthier is work.
Ask yourself some serious questions. What is holding you back? Why are you so afraid to bud out of the blossom? Why are you so afraid to turn into a butterfly? Vegging out in front of Netflix while you stuff pizza in your face is not a reward for a hard week. You are only punishing yourself now and your future self. Make small changes every day. The flower doesn’t bud in 1 hour. It takes babies 9 months to grow. Things take time. Be okay with the journey.
Your lesson for the day. You only fail if you stop trying. Give yourself a break and bloom. Don’t be afraid. Stop hanging on to the comfort of the couch or the comfort of turning off your brain. It is time to let it experience life.
Day 1 begins again today. And that is freaking fine!
